I started with a palette, as requested by the recipients of this quilt. "Sunset colors" they said. A sunset can't happen without an aqua sea, banks of fluffy grey clouds, or or inky dark horizon to sink into. That's the palette then. Inspired by Mary Dugan's "Rolling On" quilt block, I started making these wheels. As a "process person" it was just so satisfying. After several, I paused to ask myself "what's next?" The answer was something to stop the wheels spinning OFF! And to ease the busy-ness. More greys were added, with shots of bright color. Straight lines settled everything. I like the end result; the tension between roundness, and structure; the popping colors against soft greys. I'm happy with where this led me.
Are you more process oriented, or product driven? Are you one or other because you do whatcha do? Chicken or egg? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
